M.C. Escher’s “Bond of Union,” while not typical mask representation, instead looks at the interconnectedness of humanity, even in the superficial elements of appearance. The man and woman are created from the same looping ribbon which serves to give form to the atom-like particles. It is a chain of connectedness that is deeper than the masks we wear.
